The work is based on the personal drama of a character in a fictional science-fiction story. His consciousness — his brain — has been separated from his body and sent into outer space in a special capsule. All he has left are memories, which he is forced to replay endlessly. The character can no longer interact with reality or influence the events around him.
The project explores the relationship between the real world and a kind of “cloud memory” stored virtually in consciousness, and attempts to define the boundary of detachment. In such a situation, consciousness experiences an intense feeling that is different for everyone. Perhaps it is not fear at all, but a genuine desire to explore the universe endlessly. The monitor, stripped of its casing and exposing its internal structure, is likewise “torn” from its usual environment.
